The Sheraton Princess Kaiulani is proud to participate in Flavors of Island Music by featuring entertainment by some of the island's most talented artists.
Sam Kapu III
Born into a forth generation of Hawaiian musicians, it is no surprise that Sam Kapu III has successfully continued the musical legacy of his family. Kapu, who began singing and playing the ukulele at age seven, is known for his upbeat, contemporary Hawaiian tunes. His first album “Sam Kapu III,” released on Bluewater Records, gained notoriety when it was nominated for two Na Hoku Hanohano Awards in 1994. Kapu’s latest CD “Lineage,” which pays homage to his very talented family, was nominated for “Best Hawaiian Album of the Year” at the 2003 Hawaii music awards.
Joe Kingston
Joe Kingston has been performing throughout Honolulu for several years as a soloist, as well as singing in various combos. Kingston plays guitar and ukulele, but his favorite instrument to play is upright bass. He performs a variety of music, including Hawaiian, oldies, jazz, contemporary, and standards.
Tangi Tully
Tully, whose mother came to Hawaii in the 1950s as a Tahitian dancer and singer, grew up in the entertainment industry. For the past 20 years, he has been performing in Waikiki and Japan, showcasing his aloha spirit along the way.
Kaimana
This dynamic trio of Rodney Bejer (vocals/bass/ukulele), Kawika Regidor (vocals/guitar/ukulele), and Eric Folk (drums/percussion) perform music ranging from the soothing traditional and contemporary Hawaiian to the up-beat island reggae, Latin/katchi-katchi, swing, and pop. Joining them on stage for two sets are their Kaimana or "Diamond" dancers Kiara and Kawena.
