Earth Hour 2011

The Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel will once again be joining millions of others around the world in observing Earth Hour this year.

Earth Hour is sponsored by the World Wildlife Foundation and is a global grass-roots movement encouraging individuals, businesses and governments around the world to take positive actions for the environment, and celebrating their commitment to the planet by switching off their lights for one designated hour. The highlight of Earth Hour 2011 will see the world’s most iconic landmarks go dark for one designated hour, as hundreds of millions of people transcend race, religion, culture, society, generation and geography, switching off their lights in a global celebration of their commitment to protect the one thing that unites us all – the planet.

On Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 8:30 pm, the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel will be asking all of our guests to participate by turning off all non-essential lights, A/C, TV, etc. to support this case. We encourage our guests to take this as an opportunity to walk around Waikiki and enjoy the natural breezes of Hawaii. We will also be asking our associates to participate in Earth Hour at home and at work.

During Earth Hour, The Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel will be turning off all unused machinery, unoccupied guest room lighting, some lighting in our landscape areas, lights in any unused meeting rooms and offices, boiler, chiller, heat pumps, ice machines, fans, pool pumps, desk computers, and other non-essential lighting throughout our hotel.
